We are expanding our event offerings through new initiatives including premium catering (supported by our on-site butcher shop), family meals, and larger private events.

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Event Coordinator to take ownership of our event operations and drive significant growth in this key revenue stream. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone eager to build and scale a robust events program at a thriving, community-focused restaurant. You will manage everything from intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations, while identifying new opportunities to position Peninsula Prime as the premier event destination on Lake Norman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead End-to-End Event Execution: Plan, coordinate, and oversee all private events, corporate functions, weddings, holiday parties, themed celebrations (e.g., Kentucky Derby), neighborhood happy hours, and other special occasions.

  • Business Growth & Revenue Development: Develop and implement strategies to increase event bookings, upsell packages (including premium catering menus with steaks, seafood towers, and plated/buffet/station options), and expand into new markets such as corporate events, off-site catering, and community partnerships.

  • Client Relations & Sales: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients; conduct site tours, prepare custom proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure exceptional client satisfaction to generate repeat business and referrals.

  • Menu & Experience Innovation: Collaborate with the culinary team on event-specific menus, pricing, and themed experiences that highlight our upscale seafood and steak offerings while aligning with guest preferences and market trends.

  • Operations & Vendor Management: Manage event staffing, timelines, setups/teardowns, AV/technical needs, and vendor partnerships. Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and hospitality.

  • Marketing & Promotion: Work with the team to promote events through social media, email campaigns, invitations, local media, and community outreach. Track performance metrics and report on ROI.

  • Team Leadership: Train and supervise event staff and support personnel; foster a positive, professional environment consistent with Peninsula Prime’s warm and inclusive service philosophy.

  • Compliance & Administration: Handle contracts, budgeting, invoicing, permits, and insurance requirements. Ensure all events comply with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 1+ years of proven event management experience in a restaurant, hotel, catering, or hospitality setting. Experience with upscale dining events, private parties, and catering is strongly preferred.

  • Skills: Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities. Strong sales and negotiation skills with a track record of growing event revenue. Creative mindset for developing memorable experiences.

  • Personal Attributes: Passion for hospitality and community engagement. Detail-oriented, professional, and warm communicator. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and work evenings/weekends as needed for events.

  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, event management software (e.g., Tripleseat or similar), and social media platforms. Knowledge of local Lake Norman/Cornelius vendor networks is a plus.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
